Despite some reasonable numbers of small codling big cod have been in short supply in the
Things look like they could be changing though with the recent captures of a 20lb cod from near Weston and a 22lb 6oz cod from the beach at Burnham this week. There have also been a few low doubles, like the one pictured here, from the upper channel so now is a good time to have a go for that elusive specimen. Do not expect this opportunity to last too long as these bigger fish will soon be moving offshore to spawn and for this reason a number of local anglers now return large cod in the hope that they will survive to breed.
